What you should do as a high school student to work towards medical school.

You might be thinking that college and medical school are a ways away, but there is a lot that you can do in high school to prepare for a profession in the medical world and increase your chances of getting accepted into a good pre-med or nursing program. WebMedics, our student-run club, will help you familiarize yourself with the medical world and help build the first step of becoming a medical professional.

First things first, you want to ask yourself if you want to delve into the world of medicine. Do you like science or human anatomy? Do you like helping people? Do you have a backstory that made you want to become a doctor? WebMedics will introduce you to a multitude of medical professions and what they are like to help you decide what path you want to take. It helps a lot to talk with doctors about your own future, which is exactly what WebMedics can provide.

Getting some medical experience on your resume, even in high school, is very beneficial. In WebMedics, we shadow different types of doctors and work on solving case studies to help build knowledge and familiarity with medicine. In the month of January,

we studied oncology and met with Dr. Christina Chu, a gynecological oncologist who taught us about a typical day in her line of work, some case studies, and how she got to where she is. Not only was it informative, but it was also very interesting.

WebMedics is a great way for high school students to learn about medicine and start building the steps to becoming a doctor. We hope you can join us!
